Many Government Authorities have commissioned MacDonald International as Experts to prepare costings for projects and then negotiate the price of a contract or a major variation on behalf of the Authority with the Tenderers or Contractor. We have also been engaged on a similar basis to negotiate prices on Alliance Contracts.

We also use additional software including Benchmark Roadworks Estimator (for Australian and United Kingdom projects) and Benchmark Roadworks Strategic Estimator (modified for New Zealand conditions) which allow the production of early estimates for major road, freeway and motorway projects in a very short time. MacDonald International has used such software to assist a client by preparing a strategic estimate for over 500 kilometres of major road in a short time period.

The company has been appointed to estimating panels by the Roads and Traffic Authority of NSW, Queensland Main Roads, SA Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure and Main Roads Western Australia. Transit New Zealand has also nominated MacDonald International as Peer Reviewers and Independent Experts for estimating.

MacDonald International has also provided advice to road and railway authorities in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom on establishing and operating estimating systems and procedures.
